East Side Little League

Welcome to East Side Little League

Chester County Pennsylvania, USA

East Side Little League (ESLL for short) is a 501(c) tax exempt non-profit.  Our main location is March Field off of South Concord Road.  Our mailing address is PO Box 2101 • West Chester, PA 19380.

ESLL was founded in 1957 under the name East Side Optimist Little League.  The league's name was changed in 1980 to East Side Little League. Below is ESLL's Silver Anniversary Charter.

ESLL falls within District 28 in Southern Chester County.  Our league covers West Goshen, Westtown, Glen Mills, Thornbury Chester County and Thornbury Delaware County townships. ESLL is one of the largest in Pennsylvania with nearly 800 players and 300 volunteers.  We actually combine two charters because of our geographic coverage.  You should check to see if you live in the ESLL coverage area across these two maps:

New and returning players to ESLL must register online.  New players also are required to have their address and age of players verified (only once).  In-person verification dates are posted on the Calendar of events and emails will go out to all current registered players.  You must make one in-person verification dates.  Once you are verified, you don't have to do it for your other children.

ESLL is a membership based organization.  Parents and Volunteers make up the members.  The members elect an Executive Committee that operates the league on behalf of the members. ESLL is made up of hundreds of Volunteers.  Each Volunteer has a background check processed by our league President.  Our programs range from age 5 to 18.

If you have any questions about ESLL, feel free to contact anyone of the Directors.

Keeping up with the News

There are many moving parts in ESLL.  Emails will be sent to Parents and Registered Volunteers.  You can Follow ESLL on both Facebook and Twitter for the most up to date news and events.  Check the League Calendar for posts by Month.

Baseball Seasons

ESLL plays Spring baseball from early April to the end of June (regular season).  Pre-registration begins usually in January each year with Registration ending mid March.  We hold indoor winter workouts for some divisions such as Farm - to learn how to pitch - and JV 13u as players step up to 60/90.  ESLL has approximately 70 teams coached by volunteers.  Get involved in Little League - it is both rewarding and loads of fun.

ESLL also plays Fall baseball from Labor Day to the end of October.  Pre-registration begins in July each year ending right before Labor Day.

Player Evaluations

Begin at the Farm level (age 9) and will continue through Majors/Minors/Intermediate and JV.  Player evaluations help the managers and directors balance teams and help set the league programs and teams up.  Each team usually has 12 to 13 players on a roster.  There are three baseball fields in Little League - 46/60 (small field), 50/70 (transition) and 60/90 (regulation).  The small fields are played through Majors and Minors 10-12 year olds.  50/70 is a transitional stage for 11 and 12 year olds.  And, then 13-15 and Big League 16-18 play on the high school regulation fields.

ESLL is a recreational sport program managed
by the community.

It is not travel baseball ball.  ESLL allows every player the chance to play, even though some divisions and program will travel and play other district teams.  Every player will be assigned to a division, level of play and team no matter the skill and abilities.  The mission of ESLL is to help all players develop - not just baseball skills, but life skills.  All players will be selected and proportioned to teams based upon their level of play once they get to age 9.  ESLL does not allow players to "play" up - simply because this is about setting rules, living by rules and understanding players develop learning and playing with one another.  The age divisions are designed to stage player development.

Finally, ESLL is governed by local and international rules.  We have a charter, bylaws and constitution.  All meetings are open to the public.  And, if you would like to get involved in Little League - either as a sponsor, volunteer or parent, please contact the Director for the proper age group.  Our Contact list can be found here.
